    Some students are just naturally suited to home schooling. This is true of Amelia, who already held down a job in a local retail store, attends tennis coaching twice a week and is a keen surfer and musician. Amelia was bored with the study topics she was being offered at school. Since starting her Coach House program, she has engaged in fascinating and challenging depth studies of Marine Biology, Ancient Greek History, Survivalist Skills, Forensic Science and Espionage. Amelia also runs her own online business importing clothing and re-packaging and re-branding it for sale in the Australian market.

  • Leah, 13

    Leah's mother came to us in desperation after her daughter was forced by school authorities to attend a special class because of her unmanageable behaviour in lessons. Leah sat in a corner of the room with her earbuds in, and gradually withdrew from others until she was isolated at school. Teachers gave up requiring work from her, and her oppositional behaviour led to regular trouble at school and bouts of depression. After her interview at Coach House unveiled some of her passionate interests, such as birds, animals and Norse mythology, Leah agreed to give her new program a try. In the past year, she's created a leather-bound Viking style journal, in which she has written numerous creative pieces and documented her journey out of depression. She has discovered a new skill set in taming wild birds and is now working well above her year level in Mathematics, something that she thought she could never achieve. As a result, Leah is now aiming to study Zoology at university, and is well on her way in life.

  • Jake, 16

    When Jake came to us for a program, he was all set to put his feet up. Jake was under the false impression that home schooling simply meant staying home from school and taking it easy. Within the first term of his new program, Jake was offered paid work in aquaculture as part of the study program we designed for him. He is now studying at higher levels in Maths and Science than he ever dreamed possible, all while earning decent money, receiving on-the-job training and saving for the future.

  • Dominic, 12

    Dominic's school friends were getting into vaping, and they were dragging him down a pathway that his family feared would lead to worse trouble. He was not keen to be home schooled, but with the right program, his parents were able to convince him to work with them by agreeing to spend just one term at home. He has never returned to school. Dominic was only ever interested in gaming when he was attending school. At home, it's all he would do. These days, Dominic has widened his interests. He's found he is a gifted mathematician and to fulfil his English course requirements writes popular film reviews on Reddit. Like so many students we see, Dominic just needed the right program to help him uncover his natural talents and explore other interests.

    Austin has significant respiratory issues triggered by sensitivities to carpet fibres, resins and other substances that made it impossible for him to stay in the classroom environment. His parents came to us seeking a solution. We tailored a high interest, self-teaching program for him to ensure that he wouldn't feel like he was missing out on the social aspects of school. Austin is able to enjoy sports and games with a few home school buddies, and is busy working through a study we've called 'Awesome Engineering', focusing on his love for trucks and bridges. He has also produced a massive imaginative topographical map, revealing a talent for drawing and cartography.

You can present the portfolio at your assessment interview as evidence of learning, then hold onto it as a permanent record of your child’s home schooling successes.

  • We use only the highest quality books - all individually matched to your child’s literacy ability, their previous experiences with books and their unique feelings about reading. They expose your child to a range of text types, reading and writing tasks and teach them how to think and analyse, not what to think.

    We’ve harnessed the power of graphic organisers to enhance memory and learning. As students work with books and writing responses, they are internalising and personalising information. Through our unique journalling approach to note-making, children encounter interactivity without screen time and subscriptions.

  • Our Pick & Mix projects deliver a wide range of practical activities that address all the core subject areas and electives. Each project will expand practical experience in speaking, listening, thinking, problem-solving, creating, testing, adapting and innovating. Projects may include gaming challenges, films, television documentaries, online videos, digital and audio resources designed for an immersive learning experience. It’s vital to capture children’s interest with compelling content to successfully teach them new skills. Kids who struggle with reading really enjoy accessing rich, engaging content effortlessly - and viewing and listening are ideal for that purpose. We’ve also included projects that will get your child outdoors and into hands-on, active learning experiences.
